Function: This position performs duties to assist with the administration and enforcement of programs involving environmental health such as: food service programs, public accommodation programs, on-site wastewater treatment systems, and air quality. Position assists with the administration and enforcement of Federal, State, and County laws and regulations.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health or its equivalent from an accredited university or college, with 30 hours in the physical and biological sciences as well as a course in Microbiology. One to five years experience in enforcing and working with rules and regulations, knowledge of various types of sewer disposal systems, experience in food safety preferred.
Special Requirements: Must be a registered Sanitarian in the State of Montana, or become registered within 12 months of selection.
Desired: This position performs technical duties which require attention to details and cleanliness according to public health standard requirements. Work is performed indoors and outdoors during normal office hours. Outdoor work involves health inspections for licensed establishments, site evaluations, review and permitting of on-site wastewater treatment systems, investigation of complaints involving the food service program, public accommodation program, and air quality program.
